Intellectual Property Rights Notice
This is the only website set up by the Census and Statistics Department for the 2016 Population By-census.
The contents found on this website are subject to intellectual property rights which are either owned by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“the Government”) or have been licensed to the Government by the owner(s) of intellectual property rights of such contents to deal with and/or sub-license such contents for the purposes of all activities contemplated herein.
Unless otherwise specified, statistical tables, accompanying tables of statistical reports/ feature articles, datasets and press releases on this website are also listed in DATA.GOV.HK. Such contents may be downloaded, distributed and reproduced free of charge for both commercial and non-commercial purposes subject to the Terms and Conditions as stipulated under DATA.GOV.HK.
Visitors to this website are permitted to download, print, make copies of and distribute all other contents found on this website (excluding any maps, photographs, graphics, drawings, logos, audio files and video files found thereon) (“Permitted Contents”) for personal or educational purposes, provided that the Permitted Contents must not be used for or in connection with the following purposes:
- conducting any direct marketing activities and/or disseminating or circulating any part of the Permitted Contents for any unsolicited publicity or advertising materials;
- advertising and/or promoting any goods or services; and
- sale or exchange of any part of the Permitted Contents for any benefit, gain, profit or reward.
Without prejudice to paragraph 4 above, visitors who download, print, make copies of and/or distribute the Permitted Contents shall comply with the following conditions:
- acknowledgement must be given to the 2016 Population By-census Website as the source of the Permitted Contents in any copy or copies made by the visitors (“Visitors’ Copies”) and any subsequent copy or copies that may be made by the recipients of the Visitor’s Copies (“Subsequent Copies”), including but not limited to paper copies, digital copies and copies placed or posted on websites; and
- the Government must be acknowledged as the intellectual property rights owner of the Permitted Contents in any Visitors’ Copies and Subsequent Copies.
The prior written consent of the Government is required if you intend to copy, adapt, distribute, make available to the public, or otherwise use the contents on this website in any way or for any purposes other than that provided in paragraphs 3, 4 and 5 above. Such requests shall be addressed to the Census and Statistics Department via e-mail at (email@example.com).
Please note that the permission given in paragraphs 4 and 5 above does not extend to any contents on other websites linked to this website, or any contents on this website, the intellectual property rights of which belong to a third party. Authorization or permission to use, reproduce or redistribute such contents must be obtained from the owners of intellectual property rights concerned.

Information we collect about you will only be used for compiling aggregate statistics and for processing your requests and will not be disclosed to parties who are not involved in the respective processes.
We only retain personal data for so long as it is necessary. We do not offer on-line facilities for you to delete personal data held by us.
Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, you have a right to request access to and correction of information about you held by us. You may seek access to or correction of the information by addressing your request to the Data Controlling Officer, Census and Statistics Department, 21/F, Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, China.
