Published date: 19 October 2015

The 2016 Population By-census Publicity Poster and Mini-film Competitions are now open for entries. Students in primary and secondary schools are invited to enter.

A spokesman for the Census and Statistics Department said today (October 19), "The 2016 Population By-census will be conducted from June to August 2016. The competitions aim to raise students' awareness of the 2016 Population By-census and to promote the use of the e-Questionnaire to the public."

There are four categories in the Publicity Poster Competition (Junior Primary, Senior Primary, Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary) and two categories in the Mini-film Competition (Junior Secondary and Senior Secondary).

Each category will have a champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and three distinguished prizes. In addition, the judging panel will select six finalist entries from each category for online voting by the public from January 17 to 30, 2016. The poster and the mini-film with the most online votes will each be awarded a Most Liked Award. The primary school and the secondary school with the highest number of participants will each receive a Most Supportive School Award.

The deadline for entry submissions is December 14, 2015. Entries should be uploaded to the 2016 Population By-census website (www.bycensus2016.gov.hk). Details of the competitions and other reference materials of the e-Questionnaire are also available on the website. For enquiries, please call 2920 2016 during office hours (8.45am to 6pm from Monday to Friday, except on public holidays).

The competitions' results will be announced at the award presentation ceremony in March 2016.
